Natural Wet Dog Food

If you care about your dog’s health, then you will want to ensure that they have a good diet—and that means knowing exactly what’s in the food they’re eating.  A natural wet dog food gives you the reassurance that all the ingredients come from natural meat or plant sources and contain none of the artificial additives found in many dog foods.

Natural dog foods are free of artificial flavourings, colours and preservatives, and made without any artificial binding agents or fillers (bulking agents). That leaves more room for wholesome, natural ingredients that are full of nutrition and flavour.

Natural dog food is also usually free of GMO (genetically modified organisms) ingredients, but check the packaging or product listing if this is a concern.

• Natural wet dog food is usually very healthy, but natural ingredients aren’t automatically healthy ingredients, so check levels of fats, sugars and salt are reasonable and that they’re naturally occurring rather than added. Fructose, glucose and syrup are all types of sugar and just as harmful as the white powdery version!
• Many common allergens are natural foods or food groups. Your dog may be allergic to a natural food such as grains, gluten, dairy, lactose, soya or eggs, so choose a natural wet dog food that’s also hypoallergenic, or check to make sure the one you’ve chosen is free from your dog’s trigger allergen.
• Natural doesn’t necessarily mean ethically sourced or sustainably produced, so check your dog food for sustainable or ethical sourcing guarantees if these issues are important to you.
